President’s Welcome

I on behalf of the Sports Union and its Clubs would like to welcome you for the forthcoming year. As a student at Edinburgh University you are a part of Scotland’s largest and number 1 sporting institution.

The Sports Union has a vast variety of opportunities to offer students at Edinburgh for participation in sport. With 66 Clubs ranging from the mainstream - Hockey to alternative – Ultimate Frisbee, you really can not say there is nothing you would like to try during your time at University!

The University has a comprehensive sports programme available to students, ranging from participation in social sport in our Intra-Mural programme to performance sport and competition.

Edinburgh is ranked in the top 5 in Britain in terms of sporting performance, therefore quality is certainly heavily associated with sport here. So if you feel like you are the next Olympic medal winner then your certainly in the right place.

If intense competition is not for you then Intra-Mural Sport may be an option. The Intra-Mural programme brings inclusive fun and socialising to sport at Edinburgh. It offers the opportunity to compete in friendly leagues against other students. To get involved you simply have to put together a team for one of the available sports: Football, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Squash and Cricket. Whatever it is you are looking for in terms of sport at Edinburgh I am confident we have something for you, so get involved. There is no time like university to experience something new and utilise the fantastic facilities and services on offer. Sport is the perfect supplement and break from your academic studies, so do not miss out!
