Edinburgh University finish second overall after a thrilling weekend of competition at the BUCS Dryslope Championships.

Over 900 competitors from 62 universities took to the three slopes of Midlothian to compete in several disciplines over two days. The weather held out, with most of the weekend basked in bright, cold and windy sunshine.

The two-day event concluded with the Big Air finals and an impressive display of individual freestyle flair. The freestyle team ran a 3-run Big Air final for the first time in BUCS Dryslope Championship history, allowing GB Park & Pipe skiers Chris McCormick and Harris Booth (both University of Glasgow) to showcase the two biggest tricks seen in recent years at this event; McCormick with a switch 9 truckdriver and a cork 9 blunt from Booth. The standard of Women’s ski freestyle improved again for another year, with Lauren Strickland (University of Glasgow) landing a flat-3 in the ski Big Air finals.

Huge crowds came to support our teams and enjoy the competitive atmosphere and in partnership with BUSC Events (British Universities Snowsports Committee), there was plenty of vibrant day and night time entertainment for everyone.

We had another great performance from our athletes with strong results across all disciplines, with two first place finishes for Joab Matthews in Snowboard Slopestyle and Ollie Krahelski in Male Slalom. Ski duals finished a record 2 hours ahead of schedule with an all Scotland final with Edinburgh being just pipped over the line by Glasgow, who claimed the overall ski duals win.
