Joining Sports Clubs

Find your home away from home at the University of Edinburgh! Joining a sports club is a great way to make friends, learn something new, and keep yourself healthy whilst at University. If you missed out on joining a sports club at the start of the semester, you are not too late to get involved! Many of our sports clubs are still open to new members throughout the year. We have listed club's preferred method of contact below so please get in touch with them - our clubs can't wait to welcome you along!

If you are looking to get involved with our Intramural Sport Programme, you can find our more on our Intramural Sport page.

We also have an International Sports Club for international students who would like to meet other students, try different sports, and watch sport matches. To find out more about this club please join their Facebook Group or email our Inclusion Officer.

Semester Time 2023/24

The list below is non-exhaustive, and will be added to throughout the year. If you don't see a sport listed, it is still worth contacting them to ask about joining late - you can find all the contact details for clubs here.

You can view our full programme of summer activities on our calendar.

Thursdays 19:30 - 20:30 in the Salle Studio in pleasance gym (no gym membership needed)

Performance Dance is the recreational dance team offered by the University of Edinburgh Cheerleading and Dance team! This class requires absolutely no previous dancing experience and trains once every week. In semester 1, we are trying out a range of styles and techniques, so there's something for everyone! Each week we learn a small routine in a different style, for example jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and even heels! In semester 2, we will learn our performance routine for a performance in March and the EUCD Vixens showcase in April. If you're looking to try something new or have a boogie with your friends pop along any time! Everyone is welcome

Sunday 12:00-14:00

In each session of Recreational Cheerleading, we try to cover all the different aspects that make up cheerleading - Tumbling, Stunting, Jumps, and Dance. Rec Cheer is for anyone looking to improve/try out new skills in a team setting. Semester 1 is focused on acquiring new skills and getting comfortable with cheerleading as a sport - interested students are more than welcome to come and join a session as a taster. As cheerleading is fundamentally a team sport, in Semester 2 we require more commitment as we work on putting together a routine for our club showcase! As a club we are also working towards hosting one-off sessions open to absolutely anyone, specifically those unable to commit to weekly sessions but interested in giving cheerleading a go and joining the fun!
