Shinty Taster Session

Thu 19 January 2023 14:00-15:30
Meet at Pavilion Cafe, the Meadows

Hi everyone! You are all very welcome to try some shinty with us! Shinty is a team sport played with sticks and a ball. It's closely related to Irish hurling/camogie and shares similarities with hockey and ice hockey.

Don't worry if you have never played or heard of this sport before! This will be a fun laid-back session where we will introduce you to the basics of the game and play some wee games and activities.

It'll be a great way to meet some new people and try out a uniquely Scottish sport!

More experienced players are also very welcome to come along!

Please bring football boots or trainers, all other equipment will be provided for you.

We will meet next to the Pavilion Cafe (the green huts) on the Meadows. This spot is just a 5 minute walk from the University's Main Library via Jawbone Walk. Look out for people with shinty sticks (called 'camans') which look a lot like hockey sticks!
