Wednesday saw another bumper day of fixtures with a total of 37 fixtures across the day and Edinburgh picking up 15 wins, 3 draws and 13 losses. The sun was out and the spectators headed down to Peffermill to take in the action throughout the day, there were some thrilling matches taking place.
Wednesday saw the start of the BUCS season with 21 fixtures on the cards, the day saw a mixed bag of results across the board, with two matches postponed due to travel issues. With 9 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses with 2 scores still to come in, Edinburgh's BUCS campaigns have kicked off, though perhaps not reliving the dominating glory from the Varsity weekend.
James Small-Edwards lit up Murrayfield with a hat-trick of tries as Edinburgh University dominated the Men’s Varsity match against St Andrews to lift the silverware once again. Last year Edinburgh had edged the match 26-19, but this one was a far more one-sided affair, as David Adamson’s side ran in ten tries to to give them their third win on the spin in the fixture.
SCOTLAND Sevens cap Meryl Smith was the star of the show as Edinburgh University inflicted a heavy defeat on their St Andrews counterparts. The teenager played the abbreviated game for her country earlier this year and showed her talent with an individual haul of 20 points.

The University of Edinburgh athletes have returned to Scotland after a golden weekend at the British University and College Sport (BUCS) National Championships in Sheffield finishing with an overall haul of 48 medals.
