Edinburgh University Gliding Club (EUGC) is currently one of the top University Gliding Clubs in the UK, and amongst the best equipped. Your instructors will take you from a complete beginner to flying at national competitions before you can say, “I’ve graduated”! And the best part - learning to fly is cheaper than learning to drive!
Weather permitting, EUGC aim to fly every weekend at the Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak, near the beautiful scenery of Loch Leven. When you are not learning to glide, you can go on trips or compete in competitions at other airfields around the UK.

By working in partnership with the Scottish Gliding Centre, we give you:
• Preferential flying rates
• Flight simulator training
• Flying all year round
• Training by qualified instructors
• Workshops and training events/courses e.g. aerobatics course
Cost
• £85 membership fee includes your trial flight and a year's membership
• £11 per launch
• 20p per minute in the air
Which equates to:
• £23 for one hour
• £35 for two hours
PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE LEARN TO FLY BUNDLE WITHOUT SPEAKING TO A COMMITTEE MEMBER FIRST. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.

If you are not a student at the University of Edinburgh or you are Alumni please use the contact button above before buying membership to check if you can be accepted into the club.
Refunds are offered at the discretion of the club, and only under special circumstances.
Gliding Levels
Solo flying
Qualified instructors will teach you
• practical airtime and simulator training
• theoretical ground school training
• support, guidance and advice
• the skills to go solo
You can then opt to get your Cross Country Endorsement so you can sailplane away into the distance at your very whim...
Bronze, Silver, Gold & Diamond badges
Each of these badges has an increasing level of skill and determination to achieve in the elements of

Learn to be an Instructor
You will need to
• Achieve your silver badge
• Build up your flying time
• Have a chat with current instructors
