We offer badminton for all abilities so whether you have never held a racket, played a little in school or are a performance player, we've got you covered.
We have an array of rackets available for members to borrow at sessions and we also provide all feather shuttles so all you have to do is bring yourself.
Of course, if you have your own racket then please do bring it along.
Our Welcome Week Events (September 2026) are as follows.
*coming soon...*
Recreation
For those of you seeking casual play, we have regular club sessions twice weekly:
- Wednesday, 5pm-10pm @ Pleasance Sports Hall
- Saturday, 9am-12pm @ St Leonard’s Land, Games Hall
These sessions are open to all club members, regardless of ability level.
Competition
On a more competitive note, we have 5 mixed teams and 2 premier teams competing across the BUCS Leagues, making us the biggest and one of the best badminton clubs among the Scottish Universities. We also have competing teams in the local Lothian League.
If you fancy trying out for one of our teams, come along to trials during Welcome Week.
- Round 1 Men's Trials: tbc @ Pleasance Sports Hall
- Round 1 Women's Trials: tbc @ Pleasance Sports Hall
- Round 2 Trials: tbc @ St Leonard's Land *Round 2 trials by captains invitation only*
Trials can be a difficult process to manage due to the volume of players in attendance and the limited number of spaces available on the teams. Therefore, we appreciate your patience and cooperation on the day while our volunteers work hard to ensure it runs as smooth as it can.
IMPORTANT: If you cannot attend Round 1 Trials, please send us an email (badminton@ed.ac.uk) to inform us beforehand. We will not be able to offer you a retrial at a later date otherwise.
*Attendance to team trainings are by invitation only. Please attend Trials during Welcome Week to have a shot at being selected for one of our six teams!

Our social secretaries are hard at work behind the scenes organising a whole host of fun events and activities for you to take part in throughout the year.

- Christmas dinner - what better way to end semester 1 than with a roast dinner with your friends
We are also super grateful to be partnered with OX184 where our members can enjoy discounts across their delicious food and drinks menu - simply mention you're a badminton club member and enjoy!
