Jiu Jitsu Club

We teach a modern form of Jiu Jitsu, adapted to take into account the sort of self-defence situations you might find yourself in today.

About Jiu Jitsu:

The core of the art comprises a system of throws, joint locks and strikes. Based on the principle of using an aggressor’s energy to their own disadvantage, It focuses on the efficiency of technique rather than strength to defend against, control, and submit your opponent. This means anyone of any body type can see success with the moves and techniques and apply them to practical self-defence scenarios. Jiu Jitsu is a progressive martial art that offers a means of personal and physical development, as well as an effective system of self-defence. Regular training can help to improve strength, fitness, flexibility, coordination and posture.

Most people find that Jiu Jitsu also improves their self-esteem and confidence. Taking part is a fantastic way to meet new friends and offers a vibrant social life out of Club training, with many events organised throughout the year. The best way to find out more is to come along and join in - even our instructors were novices once! Don’t worry if you are not at the peak of fitness either, all you need to start is some loose clothing and a willingness to learn.

Beginners are always welcome!
