Chinese Martial Arts and Combat Sports Club

University of Edinburgh Chinese Martial Arts and Combat Sports Club (CMCC) provides a platform for people who are interested in martial arts to do workouts and friendly competitions together

CMCC includes conditioning training, martial arts technique training, and sparring sessions. Join us no matter you have experience or not, you can:

  • Enhance Your Strength, Endurance, Agility, and Flexibility, Ignite Your Passion and Enjoyment for Sports
  • Learn and Practice Techniques of Chinese Martial Arts and modern combat sports including punching, kicking, takedowns, etc 
  • Have sparrings under the proper guidance of referees and competition rules in order to improve your skills 
  • Find a community of Martial Arts in Edinburgh, get new friends, and build connections with people in this lovely city  

Training times 

·         Friday – Pleasance Salle 18:00-19:30                                      EH8 9TJ
·         Saturday – Pleasance Salle 13:00-14:30                                  EH8 9TJ
·         Sunday – St Leonards Land Gym 3 12:00-13:30                      EH8 8AQ
·         Wedensday – Plesance Combat Zone 13:30 -15:00                 EH8 9TJ

Our training arrangements are made by the club committee. If you are an experienced practicer in any style of Chinese Martial Arts or Combat sports, you can join us to be a coach. 


Equipment needed 

For the workouts, please wear sports outfits, and sports shoes and no jewelry or wristwatch
We need hand wraps, boxing gloves, gum shields, and shin pads for training and sparring. If you don't know what brand to choose, our club has experience of holding group purchases which you are welcome to join. We are able to supply proper equipment at a cheap price. 
Please bring a water bottle and make sure you have a Pleasance GYM membership (the university GYM). You can click here to purchase your membership.

There are no upcoming events

Should an individual require a refund – this can only be done by the club you have joined in cash or cheque (at their own discretion). The Sports Union Membership cannot be refunded, and neither can the transaction fee.

You may be eligible for financial assistance to help you take part in sport. You can find more information about the University's Participation Grant and other hardship funds here.
