What Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling art with a focus on submissions like joint locks and chokes. Its origins lie in Brazil after locals started practising techniques taught to them by visiting judokas. The art gained major popularity in the 1990s after the seemingly unassuming BJJ black belt Royce Gracie won the UFC 1 tournament by defeating opponents several weight classes above his own. Today, the sport has a widespread competition scene, which, thanks to the belt ranking system, is accessible to people of all experience. EUBJJ is open to everyone, regardless of your experience or goals. This year we are lucky enough to have 5 experieced coaches including an IBJJF Euros gold medalist ,several IBJJF verterans and a Black belt from the UFC and Cagewarriors decorated gym Higher Level MMA. So if you've ever been curious about BJJ, this is your chance to get involved!
