Nets, open to the whole club, are held every Saturday (12-2) at Scotland’s premier indoor facility (Mary Erskine School) - providing an excellent opportunity to maintain nick between seasons. Regular midweek training for each squad (Tuesday & Thursday evenings as St Leonards) allows our 1s2s players to hone their skills, and the range of abilities in our 3s4s and Women’s squad can develop their game. For the elite athletes (and everyone else) we have weekly circuit sessions, as well as specific sessions for our indoor performance squad.
But we all know cricket is a social sport. No wonder then that we are one of the premier clubs for social activities - you’ve got to do something whilst the weather’s too poor for cricket. You can regularly find a friendly bunch at our sponsor bar Pear Tree. Badgering or participating in whatever nonsense our Social Secs have planned.
Throughout the winter we have three men’s teams and a women’s VI competing in the BUCS indoor competition, with the men’s 1s finishing as national semi-finalists for the previous two years. Meanwhile, inter-club tournaments provide opportunity for the rest of us to get competitive.
Come May there is plenty of opportunity for cricket. Our men’s and women’s 1stXI’s play at the highest standard in the BUCS Northern Premier divisions. While men’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams compete strongly throughout Scotland. In our drive to increase participation we are looking to form a women’s 2ndXI, and the men’s teams are always looking for new players. If you’re interested make sure to get in touch or come down to our publicised events.
