We make getting into motorsport easy, affordable, and fun. With the Motorsport Club, you can try your hand at karting, navigational rallies, or attend motorsport events. Karting is an excellent way to get into motorsport, and we offer both recreational and competitive karting to cater to those of all abilities and experience. Our recreational karting events take place once a month, and the track and format changes for each event. Championship standings are updated for experienced and rookie classes. These events are designed to cater to all abilities, and transport and equipment is provided. Afterwards we typically head to the pub.
We also compete at the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC), a national event where 128 university teams compete at 3 different levels. Typical tracks include Buckmore Park, Whilton Mill and Silverstone, all over the UK. Karts are Rotax power Birel karts with a top speed of 70mph, the fastest 'arrive and drive' karts on the planet. Test days take place in October, Qualifiers in October, and the racing season takes place in semester 2. Speak to our BUKC Captain or come along to one of our events to find out more.
We also compete in Navigational Rallies periodically throughout the year. To find out more get in touch with our Rally Coordinator. Motorsport is also a spectator sport; we organise social events like Formula 1 watch-alongs, and attend events at Knockhill Racing Circuit. We have regular socials such as bowling nights, laser tag, scavenger hunts and pub quizzes.
We are a diverse club that is open to everyone, no matter the level of experience with racing, karting, biking, and cars. If you would like more information, follow us on Instagram or Facebook or give us an email.
Membership options explained:
Full-year student membership is £15, semester only (£10) and non-student memberships (£20) are also available. This gives you access to our paid karting and socials for a discount. Free socials events, such as our motorsport watch-alongs are free to attend, and new faces are always welcome.
Memberships are typically not required for events at the beginning of the academic year.
