Lauren Grains

Hey guys, I'm Lauren, the Honorary Treasurer for 2026/27. I'm a third year Physics student and have been involved in athletics for nearly 10 years, so I joined the Athletics Club as soon as I started university. I became quite invovled in the club and was Women's Captain during my second year.

Being involved in university sport from the beginning has been a really important part of my time in Edinburgh, and I wanted to get involved in the Sports Union to help support clubs beyond my own.

I decided to runfor Honorary Treasurer because I was interested in how funding and financial support can help clubs grow and make sport more accessible, so more students have the opportunity to take part in university sport. I'm looking forward to working with clubs across the Sports Union throughout the year and helping make financial support as clear and accessible as possible.

My aims for 2026/27

Improve funding accessibility and awareness: Make the different funding opportunities easier for clubs and athletes to find, understand and access, while looking at where existing funds and processes could be improved.
Supporting club treasurers: Make financial processes, deadlines and guidance clearer so club treasurers know what is expected and where to go for support.
Improve handover and continuity: Keep treasurer resources and handover documents clearer and more up-to-date so future Honorary Treasurers can come into the role with a better understanding of the key processes and responsibilities.
